HP laptop continuously beeping when turned on?

I've been looking up the BIOS codes, but what does it mean if your computer continuously beeps really loud short beeps until you either turn it off, or miraculously hit the next page of the start up? I noticed it helps to take the battery out ever time I shut it off since it might be resetting itself. It also lets me hit the escape key (change boot up order?) and it beeps continuously as it loads the next boot up page, then the next boot up page...about six intervals of 45 second beeping that causes all the dogs in the area to howl! I have a new computer, but I'm wondering if I can fix this one. No it's not under warranty, yes I got a better computer than HP this time.
