If God does not exist then why are some athletes better than others?

Former tennis player Goran Ivanisevic miraculously won Wimbledon in 2001 against all the odds. He openly credits God with his victory, and he even felt God was driving him forward at the time. Atheists cannot explain that. Why do some athletes win against all the odds if there is no God? According to science it shouldn't happen.
