NEW Problem! My laptop fell again!! Help!! Part 2...?

While you are still assessing the situation, buy a USB flashdisk or external storage device to backup your files. Burning them on DVD is also an option. Your friend is right. The most probable hardware to fail is the HDD. If your files are Huge (in gigaBytes), Buy an HDD ASAP similar to the one inside your machine (SATA or IDE) and transfer your files already to the new drive via a USB cable adapter that can make the new drive as an external HDD. When you decide to replace the old HDD, just plug in the new one and reinstall your OS (Windows) without reformatting the drive. Your files will remain intact.
