Paragard pregnancy question?
The "emergency contraceptive" part means that if you happen to have the paraguard inserted a few days AFTER you have already conceived, before the embryo has implanted in your uterus (still floating down from your ovaries), the embryo will not be able to implant and will pass out with your period. Once the para guard is in, it works to block the sperm from getting up to the egg, so it prevents conception. if by chance some sperm get by and fertilized the egg, then it would not be able to implant and would pass. it's a very very effective type of birth control. Either way, the pregnancy is not really terminated, since it was never implanted... although it depends i guess a little how you look at it since theoretically sometimes the conceived little ball of 8 cells or whatever is unable to implant. if you get it in before you have sex, the emergency contraceptive part won't apply
